Hi,
I have been using copy/paste technique when I have to enter a german
string (with umlauts and all) in gnome-terminal (v2.8.2) on Debian
sarge. This works perfectly fine, and the characters get reproduced
faithfully on the command line.
Today I tried the same thing on FreeBSD's gnome-terminal (v2.12.0),
and to my surprise, the copy/paste did not work. The locale as well as
gnome-terminal's encoding was properly set to UTF-8.
Can someone point me to the way this copy/paste works? Specifically,
why did it fail to paste on the gnome-terminal properly? I tried
searching the net, but could not come up with an explanation for this
behavior. The UTF-8 FAQ does not have much on this too.
Thanks in advance.
Best,
Amarendra
